Over the years, Camilla Calnan has spent a lot of time and has shot tons of film along her journey to become the photographer she is today. Her love of photography and the darkroom started in Vicksburg, Mississippi, learning from diverse teachers while working for the local paper as a photojournalist between semesters. This passion for photography has continued to grow since moving to the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina in 2000. In her work, she strives to creatively capture moments and to process and print images in an archival and unique way that adds to their timeless value. She hopes to make you want to pause and enjoy the images she has created for years to come.
Camilla Calnan Photography specializes in weddings, events, and individual and family portraiture. Fine-art, hand-processed black and white prints are a studio forte; she does custom black-and-white film processing and fiber-based printing in-house. Her imagery is primarily natural and urban landscapes from Asheville, North Carolina and Vicksburg, Mississippi. Camilla 's fine art work is on display and for sale in Asheville, North Carolina at Pura Vida and in Vicksburg, Mississippi at The Cinnamon Tree and Art and Soul of the South.
With over a decade of photographic knowledge to share, Camilla teaches one-on-one and group-photo workshops with subjects ranging from digital and traditional photography to hand-coloring photographs. The Southern Cultural Heritage Center in Vicksburg has hosted several of her workshops with more being planned. Email the studio or SCHS for more information.
